As one of the “Big Four” rarities of the 1909-1911 T206 White Border series, the offered Sherry Magie (Magee) error will assuredly garner much interest from tobacco card enthusiasts. Graded 10 Poor 1 by SGC, only 32 similar copies have been judged by the service. The surname of the Phillies star was spelled incorrectly in the earliest print run. For unspecified reasons, Magee’s last name was corrected while others were not. Despite revealing a combination of surface wear commensurate with the technical evaluation, the all-important Piedmont 150 advertising reverse is only moderately soiled. Perhaps the most prominent of “error” cards, this antiquity is a suitable accompaniment for the aspiring 1909-1911 T206 White Border master set collector.
