Graded 70 EX+ 5.5 by SGC. The dominating Mike “King” Kelly is the subject of this upper tier 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter tobacco card. The mustachioed Bostonian presents much better than the technical grade suggests. Well-constructed corners and edges along with a bright surface registration are eye-catching attributes of this 123-year-old cardboard. The back is clean, and the obverse crease-free. Inconsequential flaking along the right edge and superficial wear on the upper edge accounts for the seemingly harsh evaluation. Presides in the eightieth percentile of all similar Kelly cards to have been judged.
