Many people say the 1927 World Series was over before it even started. When the Yankees took batting practice before the series began, they powered long ball after long ball out of cavernous Forbes Field. The Pirates players looked on in astonishment, and despite a close Game One, never threatened the Yankees in the four-game sweep. In fact, the Pirates led only twice during the series, by a single run each time, and for two total innings. Offered is a full ticket stub to Game 3 of the 1927 World Series, held at Yankee Stadium. The stub measures a robust 4-3/8" x 2-1/8" and has been authenticated by PSA as AUTHENTIC. The periwinkle blue stub has a beautiful appearance but has a small staple hole near the top and some light glue residue on the reverse. There is a small indentation in the middle near the year, but the corners are nice, and there is no creasing of any kind. This Game 3 was won by the Yankees 8-1, as the Murderer's Row lineup continued to pound the Pirates pitching staff. Lou Gehrig banged out a two-run triple to stake the Yankees to a 2-0 lead, and Babe Ruth drilled a late three-run home run to cap a six-run 7th inning. It was the Bambino's 9th World Series home run and first of the series. This is a magnificent relic from the greatest team of all-time, highlighted by a patented home run from the greatest player of all time.
