Offered is an exceptionally rare 1950 Philadelphia Phillies National League Champions team composite pin. This 3-1/2" pin, like the red ink version on this page, was issued after the “Whiz Kids” shocked the baseball world by taking the 1950 Senior Circuit title. Featuring the same fourteen players as the "red ink" version, this version is quite possibly the only known example in black ink. The pinback has no stampings on it, and the pin itself is in (NM) condition with only a small mark above Sawyer.A fantastic resource book, Baseball Pinback Buttons: A Photographically Illustrated Compendium and Price Guide by Paul M. Muchinsky is considered by most advanced pin collector as the pin collectors’ bible. Due to the fact that the black ink pin described above is not listed in the publication, it is among the most scarce of Phillies pins.
