Offered is a Hillerich & Bradsby "M159" signature model bat brandished by Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn during his most productive seasons in Philadelphia. This 33", 33-oz. white ash war club features the 1950-1960 labeling period, during which Ashburn launched 19 of his 29 career round-trippers. With a legible centerbrand and barrel stampings, the uncracked item shows heavy use, with surface and cleat marks throughout. The hitting relic has undergone professional restoration. An All-Star in his rookie campaign and a principal of the 1950 National League Champion "Whiz Kids," Ashburn served as the club's leadoff hitter and catalyst, eclipsing the .300 mark nine times during a career that saw him capture a pair of Senior Circuit batting crowns. Graded GU 8. LOA from John Taube/PSA DNA.It should be noted that Richie Ashburn had more hits in the 1950s than any other player. Whitey had more hits than the likes of Musial, Mays, Mantle, Aaron, Kaline and Snider.
