Produced by the California branch of the American Tobacco Company (ATC), the 1909 season marked the first of a three-year run that the Obak brand produced tobacco cards of players from either Pacific Coast or Northwestern Leagues. Presented is an impressive 1909 T212-1 Obak near set of (62/76) cards. With exception to Ornsdorff (GD), each card technically grades (PR to FR) due to varying degrees of paper loss. However, the colorful surfaces present much nicer. Leading the way is an early sample of Chick Gandil (SGC 10) when he played with the Sacramento squad. Four examples (Fitzgerald, Hitt, La Longe, Ragan) have unframed reverses and are hand cut, while the remaining cards have framed backs and are factory cut. More on our website. Missing Berry, Boyce, Brown, Dillion, Easterly, Griffin, Hogan, Howard, C. Lewis, Martinke, McCredie, Nagle, Olson and Wiggs for completion. Also present are (2) McKune with (1) SGC 10 and the other having the team name erased.
