An annual Triple Crown threat throughout the Deadball Era, former Philadelphia Phillies captain Sherry Magee has long-since been overlooked by baseball historians, but certainly not by card collectors. The offered 1909-1911 T206 White Border “Magie” error card represents one of the most coveted and scarce treasures in the hobby. Encapsulated and Graded VG 3 by PSA, this Piedmont-back specimen is one of just seven at its tier with only six graded higher. Popular consensus has it that less than 150 of these cards exist, as the error was quickly discovered and corrected before the bulk of the first printing was completed. While it remains a mystery regarding why the error was corrected (the T206 issue was flecked with errors that were never corrected), the stark reality is that the offered example is one of a very select few out there. Crisp imagery and a vibrant olive background provide eye appeal, as does the clean reverse. A lower right corner crease accounts for the technical assessment.
