As “walk-off” wins go, there are none as gripping as those achieved in Game 7 of the World Series. The heart-stopping finality of such dramatics was realized by the original bearer of the offered prize: a Griffith Stadium ticket stub from Game 7 of the 1924 fall Classic. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA, this “Lower Grand Stand” voucher has printed seating/event legends, as well as “Rain Check” and legal text and the facsimile signature of Washington Senators president Clark Griffith. Having erased a 3-1 deficit, the host Senators earned their first and only world championship that afternoon as Muddy Ruel ignited a 12th inning rally after his catching counterpart, Hank Gowdy, muffed a pop fly. Given new life, Ruel doubled and subsequently scored the game winning run on teammate Earl McNeely’s hit. Showcasing bright colors, the ticket has a series of creases and a stray pencil mark on the front.
