With pitching statistics comparable to Hall of Famers such as Chief Bender, Jack Chesbro and Stan Coveleski, Parisian Bob Caruthers was also a capable batter for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms of the American Association. Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, this impressive 1888 N173 Old Judge Cabinet depicts Caruthers wielding his weapon of choice on his left shoulder. The slightly muted image of the mustachioed southerner is clear with well-formed corners and crisp edges. The blank reverse is not seriously affected by mild discoloration. The underrated nineteenth century star has been overlooked for decades, but who knows, Cooperstown may yet call? More on our website.
