Encapsulated and Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, this ticket stub was issued at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field on April 18, 1952. The home opener for the host Dodgers, the game featured the Major League debut of New York Giants hurler Hoyt Wilhelm, the first of a record 1070 mound appearances (since surpassed by four players). The lone specimen at its tier with none graded higher, this “Upper Stand” voucher features printed seating/event details on the obverse, with “Rain Check” details and the facsimile signature of Dodgers president Walter O’Malley. Ineffective in relief that afternoon, Wilhelm walked two, yielded a hit and uncorked a wild pitch in one-third of an inning. Of note is that five days later at the Polo Grounds, Wilhelm homered in his first-ever Major League at-bat … and he never homered again.
