The details surrounding this keepsake are nothing short of amazing. Let’s start with the basics. Encapsulated and Graded NM 7 by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on September 2, 1986 as Cooperstown-bound Greg Maddux made his Major League debut. The lone example at its tier with only two graded higher, this North Side voucher features printed seating/event details on the obverse and sharp edges/corners consistent with the lofty technical assessment.As for the game, Nolan Ryan started for the visiting Houston Astros and Jamie Moyer got the nod for the hosts. Maddux actually didn’t take the mound until the following day, as the game was suspended in the top of the 15th inning because of darkness and completed on September 3. Little did any of the 10,501 onlookers know that Maddux would end his career with more wins than Ryan and that Cubs starter Jamie Moyer would still be pitching 26 years later. As for Maddux, his debut was a losing one. The 17th and last pitcher be announced in the two-day contest, Maddux yielded a home run to Billy Hatcher in the top of the 18th inning and absorbed the loss.
