NOTE: This description has been modified from the printed catalog to reflect that the SGC flip is incorrect in assigning this to 1886. It is actually an 1887 version, determined by Hanlon in a suit and the studio advertising back.Only Known Version of Hall of Fame Cabinet card! Graded Authentic by SGC. With an appearance of a dapper statesman, the mustachioed Edward Hugh (Ned) Hanlon dresses the part of baseball royalty on this exceedingly scarce 1887 Tomlinson Studios portrait, considered the only known version of the "suit pose". The former player and skipper was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996 and period material has eluded many such collectors. Despite perimeter trimming along with a combination of reverse back damage, the image of the suit-wearing Hanlon is striking and clear. A small pencil marking along the upper right corner does not adversely detract from the overall presentation. The lone copy of the 1887 Tomlinson Studios issue to be judged by the third-party service. Special thanks to Joe Gonsowski for his clarification on this.
