For Chicago’s Ansell-Simplex Ticket Co., the manufacture of World Series vouchers had become quite repetitive as it produced this 1964 Game 3 example. For 14 of the last 16 years, Yankee Stadium was the American League site. Repetitive, as well, were Mickey Mantle home runs, as he launched his 16th career Fall Classic clout in Game 3, breaking Babe Ruth’s long-standing mark. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA, this full ticket features printed seating/event details and logos and showcases sturdy perforations.The Mantle home run, incidentally, was of the “walk-off” variety. As he prepared to face St. Louis reliever Barney Schultz with the score tied, 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th, Mantle allegedly told on-deck hitter Elston Howard to go to the clubhouse because he was going to hit a home run. On Schultz’ first offering, Mantle was true to his word, drilling the ball deep into the right field stands.
