Graded 20 Fair 1.5 by SGC. Not much is known of James Ralph (Spud) Johnson - his exact birthplace/date, what he did after leaving the Cleveland Spiders in 1891 nor his death date/place. Capture the mystery man on this circa 1890 Keethler and Davie Studio cabinet. The suit-clad Johnson who once paced the American Association in RBIs appears bemused on this crease-free portrait with period notations on the blank reverse. The Columbus, Ohio studio presumably photographed Johnson during his 1889-1890 stint with the club.
