Perfect through four innings in the 1947 World Series opener, Brooklyn pitchers yielded three hits, three walks and plunked a batter as they fell victim to a five-run 5th inning in their 5-3 loss to the Yanks. Encapsulated and Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, this ticket stub was issued in the Bronx for that Fall Classic battle. The lone specimen at its tier with none graded higher, this crisp voucher features printed seating/event details, colorful Yankees “top hat” logos and the facsimile signature of general manager Larry MacPhail. Additional traits include sharp edges, rounded (by design) corners and a relatively even admission tear. The postseason relic is crease-free with a clean reverse and presents even nicer than its technical assessment suggests. Of ironic note is MacPhail’s facsimile signature, as he reportedly engaged in confrontations during the post-series celebration and was subsequently forced out of the club’s front office.
