In the first of the New York Yankees’ record 27 World Series conquests and the first-ever installment in the fabled “House That Ruth Built,” one Bronx legend began a Fall Classic career later marked by unprecedented heroics in a managerial capacity. Encapsulated and Graded VG-EX 4 (MK) by PSA, this ticket stub was issued at Yankee Stadium for Game 3 of the 1923 World Series, a game in which New York Giants star Casey Stengel homered for the game’s only run. This item has a reserve (estimated value $1200-$2000). With inherent value in that it is the lone specimen at its tier with only one graded higher, this October prize hold appeal as a scarce survivor from the Yankees’ first of 27 championships, and additionally as a relic from just the second-ever World Series game held at Yankee Stadium. Giants outfielder Casey Stengel (a spry 33 years old at the time) launched a solo home run (his second of the series) in the seventh inning to account for the game’s only run. The center attraction, of course, was Babe Ruth, who walked twice and collected one of six Yankees hits. The voucher is accurately graded with a qualifier status based on the penciled notation of “Oct 1923” on the reverse.
