Graded VG 3 by PSA. Long before imagined curses and a nationwide band of followers, the Boston Red Sox were perennial contenders having claimed five World Series championships from 1903-1918. The offered 1918 Game 3 voucher comes from a contest in which Carl Mays bested Hippo Vaughn by a slim 2-1 margin to put the Red Sox within one game of claiming their last World Series title until 2004. This Grand Stand Reserved Seat from Comiskey Park presents splendidly for the technical assessment with only moderately touched worn corners and edges and discreet creasing along the lower edge. The reverse displays a hint of paper loss along the lower edge, most likely from being hastily removed by an usher. Few of these early World Series artifacts survive in any condition. Only four similar examples have been evaluated by the third-party service.
