Graded EX 5 by PSA. The 1915 season was a banner campaign for Tyrus Raymond (Ty) Cobb as he paced the American League in eight offensive categories including batting average, hits, on-base percentage and stolen bases. Not yet thirty years of age, the fearsome Georgia native was well on his way to re-writing the records of which, several stand to this day. This striking 1915 E145 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb depicts the charter Class of 1936 Hall of Fame member in top form. The tasty World War 1-era treat pictures Cobb choking up on his lumber of choice against the instantly familiar and beloved “Cracker Jack Ball Players” design. The central image is absent of any significant wear and is framed by evenly touched corners and creamy white edges. Despite moderately askew centering, the central image is perfectly contrasted with the vibrant red foundation. While mild traces of caramel staining common to the issue are noticeable on the reverse, the pitch-black typeface overwhelms any imperfection. Worthy of prominent placement in any advanced pre-war candy card gathering.
