As the “Year of the Pitcher” culminated with the matchup of staffs headlined by Cy Young Award winners Bob Gibson and Denny McLain, the menacing Cardinals ace was true to form in the opener of the 1968 Fall Classic. Posting his sixth of seven successive World Series complete game triumphs (dating back to 1964), Gibson fanned a record 17 batters in a 4-0 blanking of Detroit. Encapsulated and Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Busch Stadium for that series opener. One of two at its tier with only five graded higher, the colorful voucher features printed seating/event details, an image of the Gateway City venue and the facsimile signature of short-lived Commissioner William D. Eckert. A stellar survivor from a mound masterpiece!
