Perennial also-rans in the Junior Circuit, the Cleveland Naps had reason to hope in 1913 as the club authored a torrid 34-13 start and were in striking distance of first place before ultimately stumbling to a third-place finish. One of a scarce few survivors, this 1913 “Cleveland Baseball Club” panoramic team photo was a supplement to The Sunday Leader. Framed to dimensions of 25-1/4 x 13”, the crisp souvenir measures 21 x 8-1/2” and portrays (25) players, including: Shoeless Joe Jackson (center); the club’s namesake, Nap Lajoie (fourth from left); and tragically felled shortstop Ray Chapman (second from left). The item shows very faint moisture-induced stains and a normal vertical compacting fold. An overall splendid survivor!Frames included with lots: while we make every effort to protect the frames included in these lots during pre-auction storage and post-auction shipping, we are not responsible for any damage to the frames themselves, and no refunds will be given due to frame damage.
