Exquisite 1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Cabinets John “Hans” Wagner (Uniform) pose. Graded 30 Good 2 by SGC. This landmark Carl Horner portrayal was shared by the 1909-11 T206 White Borders legend along with additional “Flying Dutchman” cardboard renderings. Exchanged as part of a promotional campaign, when such cabinets are infrequently encountered they typically have sustained a combination of extensive wear due to the original manner of display by previous owners. This majestic pose of the incomparable Wagner has largely escaped such detractors and endured the century in remarkable condition! The heavy cardboard setting displays expected corner wear with slight paper separation along the bottom right. The textured edges have protected Wagner’s uniformed deadpan with only slight chipping. An additional finger impression is evidenced on the right corner of the photographic portion. Moderate surface creasing is detected tracing from the lower right edge approximately 2-3/4” inches atop Wagner’s surname and moniker. Fortunately, the majority of the creasing is barely detectable and completely apart from the facial region. Additional creasing near the bottom left edge and lower right corner of the reverse does not protrude the surface. According to the latest population data, only four “uniform” poses are confirmed by SGC with five others that have not been determined. Additionally, only six copies of the pose have been judged by PSA. This remarkable antique features a coveted player/pose combination that will deservedly attract significant bidding interest.
