Taste the sweetness of true collectible rarity with this Alaga Syrup postcard. 1954 Was literally a banner year for the New York Giants, as they captured the NL Pennant and then swept the Cleveland Indians in a World Series that will be remembered forever for “the Catch“ play by Willie Mays. Ranking high among the season’s promotional items, this extremely scarce 5-1/2 x 3-1/4“ postcard features an obverse Mays portrait image and facsimile signature similar in style to the Salutation Exhibit series and a postmarked reverse addressed with a secretarial Mays signature. The handsome obverse shows VG-EX details with a bold photo and slick surface gloss, while the reverse bears minor adhesive residue attributed to the removal of the postage stamp. Upping the coolness factor for this cardboard rarity is the fact that this is the exact example photographed for the Sports Collectors Digest related listing, evidenced by the reverse side writing which appears on either side of the fantastic printed advertising slogan “Willie Mays says, I was raised on Alaga Syrup”.
