This 1912 World Series Game 6 ticket stub is encapsulated and declared “Authentic” by PSA; the stub shows average wear and is well-preserved. Game 6 between the Red Sox and Giants featured Hall-Of-Famer Rube Marquard against Buck O’Brien, a controversial last second choice over Smokey Joe Wood. O’Brien, who was reportedly selected by Boston owner Jimmy McAllister, had gotten drunk the night before and therefore gave up five runs in the first inning. The Giants won 5-2. McAllister was later accused of intentionally losing so that the Boston franchise would make more money at the gate in the subsequent games 7 and 8 at Fenway Park. All was forgiven when Wood bested Christy Mathewson in game 8, winning his third game of the series.
