Graded 50 VG-EX 4 by SGC. One of the cornerstones of the 1909-11 T206 White Borders series undoubtedly belongs to the offered Ray Demmitt (St. Louis) team variation. Aside from the recognized "Big Four" scarcities (Doyle, Magie, Plank, Wagner), Demmitt belongs to the second wave of highly prized variations. The Polar Bear brand was the only ATC manufacturer to correctly place Demmitt as a member of the St. Louis Browns while the other brands continued to list him as a player for the New York Highlanders. This particular example presents magnificently well with barely touched corners and creamy edges. A radiant illustration offsets the expected occurrence of tobacco staining due to loose placement in Polar Bear brand pouches. Of the 117 total Demmitt variations evaluated by SGC, this particular copy survives in the upper thirteenth percentile.
