To put the value of this treasure in proper perspective, it"s important to note right off the bat that the last Eddie Collins signed b/w HOF postcard to appear at auction sold for over $20,000 in 2014. Over the preceding decade, we are aware of just three other auctioned examples, including the beauty now presented here. Second only to Grover Cleveland Alexander, Collins is often cited as the set"s key acquisition because his 1951 death made for such a short signing window. One never knows if or when another such bidding opportunity may arise, given the paucity of known survivors and their firm hold in elite collections. It truly would be hard to find a finer specimen than this 1944-45 Albertype Type I with its crisp, dramatic MINT 9 signature. Condition-wise, there is only minor perimeter wear and toning, plus typical evidence of corner mounting tabs. A must-have, status-symbol acquisition for any advanced collector of signed plaque postcards—above all, for those brave souls dreaming to assemble a complete set! This item has a reserve (estimated value $20,000-$25,000). Please note: The PSA label incorrectly states Artvue.
