Back in May, Jerry"s fabled "Wolf" guitar (which he had loyally played from the early 1970s to early 1990s) sold at auction for just shy of $2 million. And while it"s true that Captain Trips never strummed this particular Fender Strat up on stage, just his signature alone makes it almost equally rare. To our knowledge, this is the first Jerry Garcia single-signed electric guitar ever to reach a major auction house. The large, turquoise-Sharpie signature rates "10" strength and is distinctively whimsical in that it"s upside down relative to the Strat"s right-handed orientation. Which, Larry Magid tells us, was pure Jerry and done in jest. Magid had been promoting Garcia"s Dead shows since the earliest days of the Electric Factory, back in "68, and the two developed a warm collaborative relationship over the years. Please Note: Every single autograph in the Larry Magid Collection was obtained first-hand by Magid during personal, concert-related interactions with the legendary musicians themselves. Every single autograph comes with Larry’s signed LOA attesting to its authenticity, as well as a Full LOA from JSA. Each signed guitar is in unplayed NM condition and comes in a zipper guitar case.
