Amid a tidal wave of media coverage, an avalanche of fan mail and sadly, a torrent of hate mail and death threats, Atlanta Braves slugger Hank Aaron overcame a perfect storm of hype, pressure, racial prejudice and an Al Downing fastball to claim baseball’s most hallowed record, surpassing the great “Babe” Ruth in all-time home runs with #715 on 4/8/74 at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. This magic moment in baseball history is recalled with this "Field Level" ticket stub from the historic event. Adorned with Atlanta Braves and Delta Airlines logos this authentic game day souvenir is graded PSA (VG-EX 4), which seems a very conservative rating that must be attributed to the minor corner wear evident, as otherwise the stub shows better grade quality with bold graphics on clean surfaces. Broadcasting dean Vin Scully summed up the moment in part with “A black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol and it is a great moment for all of us, particularly for Henry Aaron.”
