The unconquerable William (Dummy) Hoy stands tall on this 1888 N172 Old Judge tobacco card. Standing only 5" 4" tall and deaf, the Ohio native certainly had several obstacles to overcome. As stated in The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890) book, "Hoy was dealt lemons, but he made some great lemonade!" Graded 1.5 Fair by SGC. The star ball player is pictured as pose #238-1 and displays mild creasing near the upper left corner along with paper loss/residue on both the front and reverse. The 131 year-old sepia image is clean and the subject is instantly recognizable.
