From the late 1970s through the 1980s, boxing"s welterweight and middleweight divisions were dominated by an incredible array of champion fighters. At the center of all the action were "Sugar Ray" Leonard and Roberto Duran, who faced each other three times. Both of these all-time greats won multiple world championships. Leonard ultimately won titles in five weight classes, taking on legends such as Wilfred Benitez, Tommy Hearns and Marvin Hagler in the process. Duran won titles in four weight classes, facing even more top ranked fighters than Leonard over a 34 year career. The two first met in the ring less than a year after Leonard won the WBC welterweight championship. Duran won this fight, with Leonard employing an ill-advised toe to toe strategy, however Leonard got revenge in a quickly scheduled rematch, that famously saw Duran mutter the phrase "no mas" when he quit in the 8th round.
