Early enough that rather than call it the "World Series," the offered ticket instead heralds the "Series for the Base Ball Championship of the World." Early enough that deadball hero Frank Baker first earned his "Home Run" nickname in this very series. Early enough that it was the first full season for the A"s fabled "$100,000 Infield." Respective aces Christy Mathewson and Chief Bender faced off in Game 1, with Matty setting a then-record (later broken by Babe Ruth) of 28 consecutive scoreless innings in World Series play—not to mention capturing the win.
