Recall one of the most infamous moments in baseball history, with this 7/24/83 New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals full ticket. Known as the "Pine Tar Game", the game in question saw the visiting Kansas City Royals trailing the Yankees 4-3, with two outs and one man on in the top of the 9th inning, when Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett launched a two-run homer into the right field bleachers at Yankee Stadium. A cunning baseball man, Yankees manager Billy Martin challenged the legality of Brett's par tar use, which was found by umpire Tim McClelland to be illegal, as the gripping agent extended 24" up from the handle, past the center factory brand. Brett's potential game-winning homer was nullified, and he was ruled out. In one of the wildest scenes the game has ever witnessed, Brett made a mad charge from the dugout at umpire McClelland, and had to be restrained from reaching him. PSA has encapsulated this bright, clean famous game full ticket, with a grade of VG 3 (MK). Brett was redeemed upon appeal, the game was resumed on 8/18/83, and the Royals got the win.
